This guide is based on the code we use to perform automated opt-outs for our customers so it has all the tips and tricks we've learned since 2020 to make removals thorough and reliable. It was last updated on July 29, 2026.
Standard Opt-Out Process (Phone Call Required)
To start, you will need access to a working phone number that can receive phone calls.
- Find your listings: Search for your name and location on whitepages.com. Be sure to search for every name you've used in combination with every city you've lived in. You're likely to find multiple matches for your data. For each match, click on your profile and copy the full web address (URL) from your browser bar.
- Go to the Opt-Out tool: Open the Whitepages Suppression Request page.
- Submit your listing URL: Paste your profile URL into the field provided and click Next.
- Confirm removal: Verify that the correct listing is displayed, click Remove Me, and select a reason for removal from the dropdown menu.
- Complete phone verification: You'll be prompted to enter a phone number. A verification code will appear on your screen. Whitepages will call your phone number with an automated message. Once the message finishes speaking, type the verification code displayed on your screen into your phone keypad.
- Repeat: For each match you found, complete the suppression process
Common Issues and Workarounds
Whitepages' opt-out tool frequently has problems. Here's how to navigate the most common roadblocks:
1. Phone number rejection
If you receive an error saying your phone number has been used too many times
or is invalid, Whitepages is temporarily blocking that number. You'll need to use a different phone number or contact whitepages.com customer service for help.
2. "Too many suppression requests" error
If a profile has been submitted for opt-out multiple times or flagged by their automated systems, the opt-out tool will stop and display a message stating there are too many suppression requests.
When this happens, the online form won't let you proceed, and you must submit a support ticket instead.
How to submit a support ticket if the form fails
Follow these steps to request a manual deletion:
- Go to the Whitepages Support Request Form.
- Enter your email address and paste your Whitepages profile URL into the Listing URL field.
- In the message body, state clearly that you are requesting the removal of your personal information and that the automated suppression tool isn't working. Include the direct links to all listings you need removed.
- Submit the ticket.
- Confirm your email: Check your inbox for an automated response from
support@whitepages.com. You may need to click a verification link inside that email or reply directly to the email stating that you still need assistance for your ticket to be processed.
