How to remove yourself from Spokeo in July 2026

Spokeo allows you to opt out by submitting your profile URL into an online form and clicking a verification link sent to your email. Here's how to complete the process.

This guide is based on the code we use to perform automated opt-outs for our customers so it has all the tips and tricks we've learned since 2020 to make removals thorough and reliable. It was last updated on July 29, 2026.

Standard Opt-Out Process

You will need an email address to complete the opt-out confirmation step.

  1. Search for your listings: Go to spokeo.com. Search for your full name combined with every city and state you have lived in. Be sure to check past names, maiden names, and common typos. It's very common to have multiple profile listings.
  2. Copy your profile URLs: Click on your profile listing. Copy the complete web address (URL) from your browser bar. If your search returns multiple pages of results, check through all pages to collect the URLs for every profile that matches you.
  3. Go to the Opt-Out page: Open the Spokeo Opt-Out page and submit your listing URL.
  4. Confirm via email: Check your email inbox for a message from CustomerCare@spokeo.com. Open the message and click the confirmation link inside to complete your request. You should see a page confirming We've received your request.
  5. Repeat for additional listings: submit every matching profile URL you found.

Common Issues and Workarounds

Spokeo's opt-out process can occasionally run into hiccups. Here is how to handle the most common issues:

1. The CAPTCHA resets or clears your information

The CAPTCHA on Spokeo's opt-out form can load slowly. If you type your information before the CAPTCHA finishes loading, the form may reset and clear what you typed. Wait about 30 seconds after opening the page to allow the CAPTCHA to fully load before filling out the text fields.

2. "Invalid email address" error

If the form displays an error saying your email address is invalid, it often means the profile link you entered has already been removed or updated by Spokeo. Try opening the listing URL directly in a new tab. If it loads a "404 Not Found" or empty page, your listing has already been successfully taken down.

3. "In order to prevent abuse" error

If you submit several opt-out requests in a short period, Spokeo may temporarily block further submissions with an abuse prevention error. If this happens, wait a few hours or try submitting the request using a different internet connection or email address.

Please let us know if you encounter any changes to this process so we can keep this guide updated.
